Speed Group named as Title Sponsor for BRSCC F1000 Championship

2016 07 morganF1000 has agreed title sponsorship for the 2018 season with Speed Group, a multi-faceted international group whose services include race engine build services at its facility in Littlehampton. The championship, one of the fastest club championships in the UK, is set to be renamed the Speed Group F1000 Championship. It is also one of the most affordable, founded on economic competition in terms of first cost, cost of ownership and uniform performance. Based on the user friendly and great handling 1000cc bike-engined Jedi Racing Car, the grid holds eleven championship lap records over 100mph and the outright circuit record for cars at Cadwell Park.

speed group logoFrazer Corbyn, Championship Coordinator and Manger, said, “As a result of this additional funding and subject to any contract we’ll be seeking television coverage, either web or broadcast, whatever is available and affordable. We believe this, along with the significantly enhanced driver reward package we have from other partners as well, will make the championship an attractive place in which to be racing.”

Over the twenty years that F1000, previously Formula Jedi, has been racing with the BRSCC, drivers have moved through to British GT, F3 and even Indy Lights, whilst others have remained for many years, moving up through the results table.

“Our sponsorship will go towards promoting a championship that delivers remarkable value for the speed that the cars achieve on track. Now, with some high end promotion, we’re looking forward to F1000 raising its game in the Club arena,” said Clive Hawkes of Speed Group. A racing driver himself, along with CEO Roland Lewis, they can both be found on a grid in their prototypes or historic Group C and F1 cars.

Corbyn said, “Title sponsorship will make a difference not only to the championship as a whole but to every driver and team, helping them gain exposure and their own sponsorship. This is a great opportunity to move F1000 forward whilst retaining the ethos of a friendly supportive club championship with great competitive racing.”
The Championship will announce its 2018 schedule shortly.
